The Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM) is dedicated to advancing the field of occupational and environmental medicine in Malaysia and globally. To recognise and honour members who have made significant contributions to the development and progress of this specialty, the AOEMM established the Lifetime Achievement Award.
This prestigious award celebrates individuals whose dedication, innovation, and service have had a profound and lasting impact on the field of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Scope of the Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award aims to:
Acknowledge exceptional contributions to occupational and environmental medicine.
Highlight the importance of dedication and lifelong commitment to the specialty.
Inspire current and future practitioners to strive for excellence and make significant contributions to the field.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Lifetime Achievement Award, nominees must meet the following criteria
- Membership
Nominees must be current members of AOEMM in good standing.
- Professional Experience
Nominees must have a minimum of 20 years of professional experience in occupational and environmental medicine.
- Contributions
Demonstrated significant contributions to the field (List of contributions below)
- Global Impact
Contributions that have had a substantial impact not only in Malaysia but also on the international stage.
- Ethical Standards
Adherence to the highest ethical standards in professional practice.

Advancements in research, education, or clinical practice.

Leadership roles in professional organisations or institutions.

Publications, presentations, or other scholarly activities.

Development of policies or programmes that have positively impacted occupational and environmental health.
Awarding Process
The process for awarding the AOEMM Lifetime Achievement Award will be as follows:
- Nomination

Nominations can be submitted by any AOEMM member in good standing.

The nomination must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of AOEMM.
3
A completed nomination form must clearly highlight the nominee's contributions, achievements, and impact on the field.

Supporting documents, including CVs, letters of recommendation, publications, awards, or other evidence of contributions, must accompany the nomination form.

The Awards Committee, comprising a Chairman and two additional members, will be appointed by the AOEMM Council to review all nominations.

The committee will evaluate each nominee based on the eligibility criteria and the significance of their contributions to Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Where necessary, the committee may request additional information or conduct interviews with nominees to support the evaluation process.

- Announcement and Presentation

The award recipient(s) will be notified in advance and invited to attend the AOEMM Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the official award presentation.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be formally presented during the AOEMM AGM, with a dedicated ceremony recognising and celebrating the recipient(s)' outstanding contributions to Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

The award recipient(s) will be notified in advance and invited to attend the AOEMM Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the official award presentation.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be formally presented during the AOEMM AGM, with a dedicated ceremony recognising and celebrating the recipient(s)' outstanding contributions to Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
- Recognition

The award recipient(s) will receive a commemorative plaque, a certificate of recognition, and an award amount not exceeding MYR 5,000.00.

The final amount of the award will be determined by the AOEMM Council based on its discretion and approval.

The recipient's achievements and contributions will be highlighted on the AOEMM website as part of the Academy's recognition of excellence in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
