A strategic discussion and planning workshop was held on 6–7 March 2026 at the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB), Kuala Lumpur to advance preparations for the Asian Congress on Occupational Health (ACOH) 2026, which will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak, in August 2026. The programme began at 3.00 pm on 6 March and continued throughout 7 March, bringing together key members of the organising committee to review progress and strengthen planning efforts.
ACOH is recognised as Asia’s premier occupational health conference, and its return to Malaysia after 29 years presents a significant opportunity to showcase the country’s occupational health research, policy initiatives, and professional expertise to the regional and global community.

Workshop Organisation and Participants
The workshop was organised and facilitated by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd, an IAPCO-accredited Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) and the official event management company for ACOH 2026. The session was led by Ms Mona Abdul Manap, Chief Executive Officer of Place Borneo, with support from Selbenaide Helbat, Jasmine Puyang Jeffry, Fifi Lea Jaina, and Reagan Jubang.
The discussion involved members of the ACOH 2026 organising committee, led by Dr Abu Hasan Samad, Chair of ACOH 2026 and President of the Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM). Participants included occupational health experts, academics, and professionals working collaboratively to ensure the success of the upcoming congress.
Key Discussions and Outcomes
The workshop focused on reviewing the current status of conference preparations, including registration trends, abstract submissions, sponsorship opportunities, and strategies to enhance participation and international visibility. These discussions helped refine planning priorities and strengthen coordination among the organising team.
Looking Ahead
ACOH 2026 is expected to serve as a key platform for regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and advancement in occupational health practice. As preparations continue, the organising committee remains committed to delivering a high-impact conference that highlights Malaysia’s contributions to occupational health.
