The Academy of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Malaysia (AOEMM) extends its sincere congratulations to YBrs. Ir. Ahmad Jailani Bin Mansor on his appointment as Timbalan Ketua Pengarah (Kesihatan Pekerjaan) of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (Jabatan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan, JKKP). His appointment under the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia (Kementerian Sumber Manusia) took effect on 16 March 2026.

The Deputy Director General for Occupational Health plays an important role in shaping Malaysia’s national direction on workplace health protection. The position supports the strategic development of policies, regulatory enforcement, and national programmes aimed at preventing occupational diseases, promoting worker wellbeing, and strengthening occupational health services across industries.

With increasing attention being given to occupational health risks such as chemical exposure, ergonomic hazards, psychosocial stress, and emerging risks associated with new technologies and changing patterns of work, leadership within DOSH remains critical. The role of the Occupational Health division is particularly important in strengthening surveillance systems, improving workplace risk assessment, and promoting evidence-based interventions that protect workers’ health.

AOEMM recognises the importance of strong collaboration between DOSH and the professional community involved in occupational and environmental medicine. Partnerships between regulators, occupational health practitioners, industry, and academic institutions are essential for advancing preventive strategies, improving workplace medical surveillance programmes, and supporting capacity development in occupational health practice.

On behalf of the AOEMM Council and its members, we extend our warmest congratulations to YBrs. Ir. Ahmad Jailani Bin Mansor on this significant appointment. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with DOSH to strengthen occupational health systems and advance the protection of workers’ health in Malaysia.

This appointment further reflects Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening occupational health governance. Continued collaboration between regulators, professional bodies, and academic institutions will remain essential to ensure that workplace health protection evolves in step with the changing nature of work and emerging occupational risks.
