The AOEMM (represented by Hon. Secretary Dr Sathya Subramaniam) joined a meeting between Malaysian Occupational Health Practitioners Association (MOHPA) and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) to discuss matters relating to the new Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure Regulations) 2019 regarding Audiometric Testing Centres (ATCs).
MOHPA had submitted a proposal with several suggestions including revising the renewal fees and considerations around technician training and calibration validity. AOEMM was present to show its support for MOHPA’s effort.
The meeting was chaired by Ir. Ts. Dr. Majahar Bin Abd. Rahman, Deputy Director-General (Health), DOSH. DOSH was represented by Dr Ahmad Fitri Abdullah Hair, Director of the Occupational Health Division and officers from the Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics Division. Besides MOHPA and AOEMM, representatives from Malaysian Society of Occupational Health Doctors (MSOHD) and Pertubuhan Doktor-Doktor Islam Malaysia (PERDIM) were also present.
While not all of MOHPA’s proposals were eventually accepted by DOSH, it was still a positive meeting in which the views of both parties were exchanged and discussed openly.
The outcome of the meeting will be published in due course on the DOSH website.
